Living In Fulfilling Environments (L.I.F.E.) Inc. Job Description: Direct Support Professional

The direct support professionals at L.I.F.E. Inc work towards empowering individuals by providing support, education, and self-advocacy in the individuals’ homes and in their communities. They do this by creating personal relationships with all those they work with and for at our various human service locations. As a support staff they are required to attend trainings and any monthly staff meetings and in-services in order to learn and understand how to safely and professionally operate company vehicles, use proper lifting techniques, and care for and support those unique individuals that we have been trusted to care for.

Although a high school education is preferred for hiring, applicants will be considered on the basis of demonstrated ability, or prior experience in working with people. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to work as a member of a team, and should be able to accept general supervision and direction from supervisors. Applicants will be required to possess a valid drivers license with a good driving record and no prior record of convictions regarding assault and/or substance abuse. Applicants should have the capability to instruct individuals at varying levels of ability to learn appropriate social interaction and personal development skills.

In addition to a direct support staff position, we also have positions available in support coordination, nursing, and group home and program management at various times throughout the year.
